What an amazing time we live in! The world is a bit topsy-turvy right now, but let’s not lose track of the fact that all the world’s information is at our fingertips. We live during an age where nothing is beyond our reach. We can learn to be a guitar virtuoso via Youtube tutorials. Participate in a MasterClass to learn how Bob Iger ran the world’s happiest company, Disney. Stay current on what’s happening in the world with some well-produced podcasts. Ultimately, if you have the time, it’s easy to find ways to better yourself or just keep yourself entertained.
There are many resources that we enjoy on a daily basis, depending on what we’re in the mood for. Some of the more educational resources help inform how we plan to #Retire50 or start investing in the market. Below are some of our favorite resources and we’ve compiled an expanded running list that you can find here.
Financial Investment Podcasts
- Robinhood Snacks Daily
- Only have enough time for a Quibi (less than ten minutes)? This is the podcast for you. These are short episodes that cover some of the biggest stories across the stock market in a fun and engaging way.
- Investtalk
- This is one of our favorite podcasts to listen to every day and we have learned SO much from this podcast. Wealth management KPP Financial runs a daily radio show that is converted into a podcast. Kaity has listened to them for the last 3 years and has been extremely impressed by their commentary on call-in questions, their deep knowledge, and their level-headed reactions.
News Podcasts
- The Daily
- This one helps us stay current on world affairs and is really well produced. It is a daily news podcast and radio show by The New York Times. Hosted by Times political journalist Michael Barbaro, its episodes are based on the Times’ reporting of the day with interviews of journalists from the New York Times.
- The Journal
- The most important stories explained through the lens of business. A podcast about money, business, and power brought to you by the Wall Street Journal.
Entertainment Podcasts
- The Bugle
- If you love nonsense and puns, this is the podcast for you! The brainchild of HBO’s Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, funnyman Andy Zaltzman and a rotating gang of comedians spout nonsense about current events.
- Conan Needs a Friend
- Renowned comedian and late show host, Conan O’Brien, interviews some amazing celebrities. In playful banter, this toes the line of hilarity and deep introspection. Do we love this one because Conan has a great flow of red hair? Maybe, but don’t hate!
- Revisionist History
- Brought to you by one of our favorite authors…this highlights Malcolm Gladwell’s journey through the overlooked and the misunderstood. Every episode re-examines something from the past—an event, a person, an idea, even a song—and asks whether we got it right the first time. Because sometimes the past deserves a second chance.
